Turn On. Tune In. Freak Out…
Tying in somewhat loosely with Chris’s Talk Talk post…
Stuart Maconie does a show on BBC 6 Music, and if you, like me, are one of ‘the children of the zone’, you will know that it is a show that requires a certain fondness for the obscure. My Monday mornings would be far more painful if I didn’t have the joy of streaming his show from the previous day…
Coincidentally, Guy Garvey also does a show on BBC 6 Music, which again, is of the top notch variety. For any of you that listen to Mr Garveys finest hour (or his previous show on another station that had such a monotonous daytime play list they are not even worthy of a mention), then you will know that the Elbow front man has nothing but high praise for Talk Talk. I have never known one man wax lyrical, so much, about one band. And rightly so…
Where am I going with this? Good question. Basically, this is my roundabout way of posting an Elbow track – this being ‘Red’ from the ‘Asleep In The Back’ LP. Having just been sent some old CD’s that haven’t been listened to in an age, this album (and said track) are getting a lot of airplay at che Scholes right now.
(And with all this talk of radio, it would be rude of me not to mention my radio slot this coming Wednesday (12th March) on YesFM’s ‘The Lounge Show’. Listen on-line - starts UK time 2.30pm).
