Drowning In A Sea Of Love…
Nestled on a Hatchback Cosmic Disco mix recently was ‘Sara’ by Fleetwood Mac. This made me think, and think hard - ‘my favourite Fleetwood Mac record’? Now this is a seriously tough question. Selecting a favourite track from these guys/gals is no easy task (or should that be ‘tusk’). There’s just too darn many…
I have always considered ‘Sara’ to be up there. With a heavy beat similar to that of ‘tusk’, the wonderful harmonising, and the emotionally drenched vocals of Stevie Nicks, this track just tugs away at the heart strings. If the stories you read are true, then the emotion is more than justified; ‘Sara’ is about an unborn child that Stevie supposedly (and unfortunately) miscarried…
I did take time out to weigh up the competition, and it was tough. Throughout their many different incarnations over the years, there have been many. The obvious tracks like ‘Dreams’, ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Everywhere’, ‘Go your own way’, as well as certain Peter Green era recordings, and many other less obvious ones. But for today at least, ‘Sara’ wins - my all time favourite…

Mark added these pithy words on Mar 04 08 at 5:02 amgood call. ’storms’ is a great track. ‘big love’ as well; both the original and the Arthur Baker mix.
there really is just too many…
whiteray added these pithy words on Mar 05 08 at 6:10 am“Sara” is a great track, but, for me, it places no better than third among Mac songs. Second goes to “Sentimental Lady” from “Bare Trees,” pre-Stevie and Lindsey. And for me, the best Mac track is “Landslide.” Great blog!
