automat - the rise, the advance, the genus (mp3)
back in 1978 romano musumarra and claudio gizzi concieved, arranged and played all the music on their self titled ‘automat’ album. using a mcs-70 synthesiser, the album was created around the concept of the ‘machine’, and the dependency of the human on such machines. a little deep i know, but with tracks like ‘droid’ and ‘(the) rise (the) advance (the) genus’, this is an album that is extremely well recognised within the italo and electro quarters…
one of the main pioneers of the posted track is i-f - the head honcho of influential label viewlexx. in the booklet to his excellent tangent 2002: disco nouveau album, i-f lists his top 5 influential italo tracks of all time. as well as some ridiculously rare (and expensive) early 80’s tracks, the primtive electro sounds of ‘(the) rise (the) advance) (the) genus)’ makes the list at a very respectable number 2…
