Come rain song down on me

led zepplin - the rain song (mp3)

it can sometimes still amaze how many great records are out there that you’ve never heard before. do people who’ve spent their lives in music still get their socks blown off by something old on a regular occasion? and has anyone alive heard everything great, and if so, do you think they’d be happy or sad about it?

you may wish to ponder on these quasi-philoshopical questions whilst listening to this, a song from the legendary led zepplin, taken from their houses of the holy longplayer. this has been getting some serious action on the deck for the last three days, and is working hard sending the hair on the back of my neck into overtime. a stunning vocal delivery, heartfelt chord progression and “that” inimitable zepplin guitar style - you can only imagine the magic in the air moment when this was roaring throught the speakers during their 1979 knebworth effort.

my zepplin album collection now conists of this, led zepplin ii and led zepplin iv. any other tips would be greatly appreciated, as i’m only starting to understand the brilliance of what was once a wayne’s world running gag …

Nice post, I haven’t heard this in ages. I’d get hold of the first album next if I were you, although TBH you won’t be wasting any money by getting the lot.

The mighty Zep’.

I’ve been roughing it with a copy of Remasters now for over 10 years (it was £5.99 in Our Price) with the proper albums thoroughly lost somewhere in the depths of my ‘Albums I Should Own’ list.

Why is it that every time I go for a Best Of I end up wanting the proper albums and then the times when I take the plunge and go straight for the albums I wish I’d just got a Best Of.

Yet another quasi-philoshopical question.

Led Zep on BFF???

Thought I’d woke up in a parallel universe for a minute. Great call though! Just one thing has Schoolsy gone AWOL or just forgotten how to use a computer. Not seen one of his brief posts for some time now!!

the mighty and mysterious don bridges returns! zep on bff is indeed a bit of a departure, but only cos we’ve been going pretty disco crazy of late. mr scholes is sans l’internet right now, he should be back up and running next week we hope.

if anyone could help me figure out what radiohead record this intro reminds me of i’d greatly appreciate it … i’m thinking something the bends/ok computer - it’s the opening 3 chords and the little lick that’s doing it for me.

Subterranean Homesick Alien

Although there’s also a bit of Paranoid Android in there too.

Yep, subterranean homesick alien, that’s the one! a jaffa cake prize will be awarded tomorrow night.

Get Physical Graffiti right now.

I don’t like Jaffa Cakes; they’re as evil as Midget Gems.

If you can un-earth an un-opened 5-4-3-2-1 then we’ll call it quits (or a GameCube controller)

nice album houses of the holy is

next to get on your list is Physical Graffitti, just for the second disc. has a song called 10 years gone and its beautiful. The first disc is still good though.

afterwards I would get led zep III, this is probably my favourite album at the moment.

then get led zep I, has alot of good songs ( communication breakdown, how many more times). this album just needs to be listened to just for the drum beat on good times bad times.

To experience led zep live get ‘ How the west was won’ . absolutely awesome. actually get this next.

I wouldn’t bother with either ‘presence’ or ‘In through the out door’.

Maybe actually get ‘presence’ cos it has achilles last stand.

Am I dirty and wrong for loving The Battle Of Evermore?

“Mmmmm, doesn’t the da-uark knight… “

Chris added these pithy words on Apr 25 07 at 9:03 am

no, the battle of evermore is a tune

tomislav added these pithy words on Apr 25 07 at 12:32 pm

Just thought I should make sure. Why aren’t there more 20 minute mandolin solos?
