Musiq for mules…

sly mongoose - delusion habit (mp3)
this is super balearic - phil mison played it down at bff on saturday and i just had to get my greasy mitts on it…
only just getting a release last week, this 12″ also includes the main track ‘bad pulse’. as good as the main track is, personally, i’d flip it over and head straight for ‘delusion habit’. with its mid-tempo disco shuffle, playful organ melodies, and subtle trumpet solo’s, id say this is a firm favourite for ‘goal’ of the month…
said track is available through the mule musiq record label. based in tokyo, japan, these guys really seem to be hitting the spot right now, as well as the track mentioned above, other releases of note include, sly mongoose’s ’snakes & ladders’ 12″ from last year, a couple of force of nature 12″s (one already featured on bff) and various (more jazz orientated) releases from kuniyiki…
don’t sleep on this one, get your wallet out and buy from here…

Marc added these pithy words on Mar 06 07 at 9:40 pmAs good as Delusion is, the best track off their Tip of The Tongue State album is the awesome ‘Monster Smoke’. That is an essential record if ever I have heard one.
schoolsy added these pithy words on Mar 07 07 at 6:55 pmmarc - not heard it. to be honest tho, everything iv heard so far by these guys is knocking on for a 100% hit rate. didnt even know they had an album out…has it been released yet, or are we talking cheeky promo’s here???

Marc added these pithy words on Mar 09 07 at 5:42 pmschoolsy> Album is out. Vinyl was Japan-only but apparently Mule Musiq has licenced the whole thing. The CD was available from Juno up until a few months ago. CD is better value for money as it has a few bonus tracks on it. Someone should book Double Famous, Sly Mongoose and Cro-Magnon out here (on the same bill) for a tour. Not me of course, someone with a bottomless pocket.
schoolsy added these pithy words on Mar 10 07 at 3:02 pmcheers marc. i shall have to try and hunt it down. as for double famous, sly mongoose and cro magnon, i think id add force of nature to that there list, probably a few others as well. maybe we could all chip in together, if we save our dinner money for the next few years we might just have enough…?
