i just got hold of this today, and it’s a killer doublepack. i was undecided whether to post this or the juan maclean version, but i’ll leave the latter for james at headphone sex to put up as soon as he gets hold of it, as it’s a future rave classic. this version is from andy meecham, aka one half (or now one third after steve kotey’s recent inclusion) of the most-excellent chicken lips, under his cosmic emperor machine guise. previous emperor machine releases have successfully managed to intergrate the dancefloor friendliness of the chicken lips nu-disco sound alongside the obvious krautrock influences stemming from andy’s adoration of seventies experimentalists can, and this is no exception. as soon as it hits 4 and a half minutes, and that breakdown kicks in you can imagine any dancefloor erupting.
if you’re super quick you might still be able to pick one of these up at piccadilly records now, so all is left for me to do is applaud the ability to turn a track from an unplayable album into a 6 minute bomb which i can’t wait to drop this saturday night. proof that you can polish a turd? i’ll let you decide.
